Targeted effectiveness for optimal action

Colombo Lernex 200g is specially designed to target and eliminate parasites that are dangerous to your pond fish. By acting on skin worms, gill worms and internal worms, it allows for complete and rapid management of infestations, ensuring a return to good health for your fish without affecting the rest of the aquatic ecosystem.

Protection against visible and invisible parasites

Lernex fights against visible parasites such as leeches and sea lice, but also against internal parasites that are difficult to detect with the naked eye, such as gyrodactylus and dactylogyrus. By eliminating these threats, the treatment helps prevent the risk of contamination and the spread of diseases throughout the pond.

Gentle formula for the pond ecosystem

Thanks to its specific ingredients, Lernex acts powerfully on parasites without altering the beneficial flora and fauna of your pond. This makes it a safe solution for the entire aquatic ecosystem, preserving the natural balance of the pond while providing effective treatment.

Ease of use for fast results

Using Lernex is easy thanks to its clear dosage and detailed instructions. One treatment is enough for 5,000 liters of water, allowing effective coverage of ponds of any size. By simply following the recommendations, users can protect their fish with complete peace of mind.

Information on parasites treated by Lernex

Aphids (Argulus)

Aquatic aphids, or Argulus, can grow up to 5 mm in size. Their flattened, rounded bodies are equipped with several ventral legs and two suckers that allow them to cling tightly to fish. Using their venomous mouths, they pierce the host's skin and feed on its fluids, causing emaciation and agitated behavior. Infested fish may rub themselves against the bottom of the pond or plants to relieve themselves. Females lay their eggs in the water, giving birth to larvae that must find a host quickly to survive. This phenomenon is especially present in summer, as aphids stop reproducing below 14°C.

Gill aphids (Ergasilus)

Smaller than Argulus, gill aphids (Ergasilus) settle on the gills and feed on their tissue. This can lead to infection and swelling of the gills, making it difficult for the fish to breathe. This problem is often seen during the warmer months of July and August, when fish can even suffocate due to the obstruction.

Lernea

Measuring a few centimeters, Lernea are not worms, but parasitic crustaceans. After mating on the gills, the females become pests by anchoring themselves in the skin of the fish with their hook-shaped head. This process causes a visible hemorrhage in the form of small red dots. When mature, their body with two "V"-shaped egg sacs becomes visible. Once these sacs have fallen off, they leave a lesion in the skin, and the new larvae in turn attach themselves to the gills, causing new infestations.

Gyrodactylus and Dactylogyrus

These flatworms, measuring 0.3 to 0.5 mm, are becoming more and more common in our ponds. Gyrodactylus is a viviparous worm that affects the skin, causing swelling and a grayish slimy layer. As for Dactylogyrus, it attacks the gills, irritating them and causing them to swell. Fish often rub themselves to relieve the discomfort, and in severe cases, they swim with their gills open, risking asphyxiation.

Internal worms (Nematodes)

Roundworms, or nematodes, are found in the intestines of fish. The larvae can spread throughout the body, affecting muscle and organ tissues. Under certain conditions, these larvae develop into adult worms. Fish severely affected by nematodes show signs of emaciation and gelatinous stools.

Leeches (Piscicola geometra)

Leeches, 2 to 4 cm long, have two suckers: one on the mouth and a larger one on the tail. They attach themselves to rocks and plants, waiting for a fish to pass by and latch on. Heavy leech infestations cause fish to behave restlessly, rub and, in severe cases, become weak and can even die.

All these parasites can cause lesions in the skin of fish, making it possible for bacterial or fungal infections to appear. It is recommended to use Morenicol Cytofex or Morenicol FMC-50 to treat these secondary infections.

Precautions for use

Warning:

After adding the Lernex product, the activity of the parasites will initially intensify. This product irritates the fish, which will move around in the water and even jump out of the pond. So watch your fish carefully during and after treatment! Lernex can be harmful to invertebrates such as snails and crustaceans. For pond fish only. Keep out of reach of children. Store the product in its box, in a dry place, between 4 and 32°C and away from light. Do not inhale. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Close the lid. Wash your hands after use.

For pond fish only. Keep out of reach of children. Store in its box between 4 and 32°C. Do not inhale. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately, with the packaging or label. This product leaves permanent stains on clothing and floors, among other things.

Effect on other animals: Pets and birds also drink pond water containing these products; it can be assumed that if fish swim in it, it cannot be harmful to animals that drink it. However, it would be more prudent to give water in a bowl to pets (dogs and cats) accustomed to drinking pond water during treatment.

Catabolism: Treatments administered to ponds will disappear on their own through natural processes such as oxidation and decomposition by bacteria.

Combinations: The effect of a combination with other products is not known. Administration of more than 2 preparations (in one combination) is at your own risk.

Instructions for use

Dosage: 20 gr (=1 scoop) per 500 liters of pond water. The scoop is included in the packaging.

If necessary, the treatment can be repeated after 14 days. Parasites of cold-blooded fish. This means that at lower temperatures their metabolism decreases. At minus 10 ° C Lernex is not sufficiently absorbed by the parasite. Mix the product with water from a bucket or watering can. Then distribute the mixture over all the water in the pond.

Do not filter with carbon or zeolite; UV lamps and equipment must be unplugged for up to 1 week after treatment. Thoroughly clean mechanical and recirculating filters, if present, before treatment and leave plugged in during treatment, so that larvae are also removed in the filter.
