An ideal substrate:

Soil substrate is an important part of setting up an aquarium because many animals feed in the soil. Plants also need to be held firmly in place and feed on the soil where the roots are. Bottom fish absolutely need a substrate without sharp edges. Underfloor heating is only recommended for medium to coarse grained soils. Indeed, if the particles are too fine, the water will not circulate properly.

Use :

Rinse the substrate with tap water to eliminate any trace of abrasion due to transport. Spread the soil substrate on the nutrient substrate (JBL AquaBasis) to stimulate plant growth (for vigorous growth approx. 6-8 cm).

Correct amount of soil substrate: length (cm) x width (cm): 140 = kilos of substrate for 5 cm thickness.
