PARwise is the latest tool from ITC Aquatics that puts an end to questions about adjusting marine aquarium lighting, whether it's brightness, color (spectrum) or photoperiod. PARwise allows you to make the right decisions about your lighting settings, share and discuss lighting in depth with the reef community.

Perfect growth rates require three things: the right wavelengths, the right intensity of light, and for the right duration. Light changes with depth and clarity, as do the demands of plants and animals.

Unfortunately, the human eye is not particularly good at understanding light levels and colors! PARwise provides you with an easy-to-use PAR meter that will give you an in-depth understanding of your lighting and how to set it to perfection.

1. WHAT IS IT!? – PARwise is a unique PAR-meter capable of measuring the light spectrum. It can be used underwater or not! It gives you all the relevant light measurements needed to make informed decisions about your light settings and photoperiod.

2. WHAT IT MEASURES - PARwise measures ' PAR ' (PPFD–PhotosyntheticPhotonFlux Mol/m2/S, Kelvin (color temperature), LUX , Spectrum , DLI (Daily Light Integral), Peak Wavelength , Hue (as color)

HOW IT WORKS - PARwise uses our proprietary, in-house manufactured and designed optical engine nestled beneath a user-replaceable cosine corrector to evenly "read" spectral content and the amount of light striking it. We then determine the results on board in PARwise and send them via USB to your device for display. Our web app automatically downloads to your device (Windows, macOS, Android) the first time you use it to give you full offline usability. We include a free USB-C adapter to fit Android smart phones, tablets and modern computers (Mac/PC) that don't have a full size USB port. Connects to most things but unfortunately does not connect to an iOS device.

4. HOW TO USE - Visit the PARwise website online on a Google Chrome-based web browser for the first time, then simply place the sensor next to your photosynthetic organism such as a coral or plant to then take a reading. Use the on-screen pause button to capture the reading in that position, write it down, and reference your spectrum against a known spectral response curve or other lighting parameters you want to copy or adjust! Use DLI to adjust the length of your day up or down and keep putting the same amount of light energy into the system in 24 hours. Finally, you only need to be online once and our handy web app will download to your Chrome-based browser and install. No app installer user account required. It's so simple!
