Information on diseases treated by Bactyfec

Hole disease , skin ulcers, mouth fungus and fin rot are caused by bacteria, especially Cytophaga columnaris (formerly called Flexibacter). When the skin mucus is damaged, the bacteria attack (e.g. due to friction, argulus or other diseases such as whiteheads) and form a circle at the damaged area, where later holes or ulcers appear. The dead skin turns white and eventually gives the fish the appearance of white spots, which are often confused with fungus. When the white skin falls off, a red hole is formed: the skin ulcer.

On the fish's mouth , compact white spots (mouth mold) may be seen. The fins may be so severely affected that they hang in tatters (fin rot). The fish become listless and when the gills or internal organs are affected, rapid death ensues.

Cerpofor Bactyfec is only effective against external bacteria. In case of infections by internal bacteria it is recommended to consult a Veterinarian specialized in fish diseases.

Instructions for use

Water Quality: Remember that water quality is essential for both the optimal effectiveness of medications and the rapid recovery of sick fish. This is why it is important to always test your water before and after treatment and correct the values if necessary.

Recommended Dosage: Shake before use. Bactyfec should be used for 3 consecutive days. Day 1: 1 ml per 15 liters of aquarium water, Day 2: 1 ml per 15 liters of aquarium water and Day 3: 1 ml per 15 liters of aquarium water. Use the measuring cup provided with the product to measure the required amount and spread it on the water.

Since the active substances in Bactyfec are of natural origin, the biological dissolution of these substances may reduce the oxygen content of your aquarium. Therefore, ensure optimal aeration of your aquarium, so that your fish have a sufficient amount of oxygen at all times.

Do not filter with carbon or zeolite; UV lamps and equipment must be disconnected until 1 week after treatment administration. During treatment, no water changes, otherwise dose 1 ml per 15 liters of tap water.

You can leave the filter running during treatment. One week after the last treatment, you can perform weekly water changes (10-20%).
