How to use Aqua Ex?

Hold the bell in the water, slightly inhale the end of the hose to ventilate, and the water will flow into the bucket. Immerse the bell at the bottom of the aquarium. The waste is extracted from the ground by suction.

Push the bell into the floor of the aquarium with circular movements. Sediments and dirt are sucked up. Pushed by its own weight, the substrate moves back and only the dirt is sucked up. For fine sand, you can lift the vase bell and adjust the suction force so that even light sand falls by gravity. The sieve built into the bell prevents accidental inhalation of fish and shrimp. The screen can be removed and cleaned. When using time-release fertilizer under the gravel cover layer (e.g. JBL PROFLORA AQUA BASIS), the bell should not be driven into the ground up to the bottom pane.

Safety for animals: removable protective screen, preventing accidental suction of plants, shrimps and fish.

Why use a bell jar?

Food and plant residues and metabolites contaminate the aquarium water. Aquarium filters cannot completely remove these substances from the water and most waste settles to the bottom of the aquarium, so regular partial water changes (1/3 of the water approximately every 15 days) are required. This change of water must always be combined with the suction of dirt from the substrate. Then it is important to adapt the new tap water to the fish using a good water conditioner such as JBL Biotopol.

Tip: If you don't want to suck through your mouth, submerge the hose until it's full of water, keep one end closed and open the closed end over the bucket. After that, the water is drained naturally.
