Product Information

NEO-Index literally means: Optimized Energy Natural Nutrition. Behind this name hides the proportion of protein to fat in the food. If only the season were taken into consideration, fish would only need half the protein (2/1) in winter that they need in summer (4/1). But since it is not only the season, therefore the water temperature, that plays a determining role, but also the size and age of the animal, as well as the function of the food (p eg growth food = ProPond Growth), JBL has developed the NEO-Index which combines all these characteristics in one claim.

It is clear from the JBL ProPond Spring that the NEO Index is not yet decisive on its own: the NEO Index for Spring is 3 to 1, identical to that for Autumn (autumn) although the composition of the food is totally different! The Protein-Fat ratio of 3:1 is correct due to the water temperature, which is the same in spring and autumn, but the purposes of the food are very different - and therefore also the composition: at spring, the fish must be put back in shape and perked up after a winter of deprivation in order, for example, to cope with spring viraemia. In autumn, on the other hand, they have to put on the pounds to overcome the impending winter in good health. Added to this is the difference in the behavior of the food in the way it sinks into the water: in the spring, the fish become active again and can come to the surface of the water to eat (possibility of observation possible diseases). Spring food is therefore floating. In autumn, the fish must switch to resting mode and feed at the bottom of the water. Autumn food is therefore designed to sink to the bottom.
