Alca-Balance safely decreases carbonate hardness while increasing calcium content

Learn more

Product Description :

To safely decrease carbonate hardness while increasing calcium content

To promote the vigorous growth and well-being of animals and "good" algae in the aquarium, the natural carbonate hardness and calcium concentration are particularly important. In many reef aquaria, however, the carbonate hardness increases and the calcium content gradually decreases. Over time, precipitates may form and carbon dioxide consumption may increase due to limestone reactors which reduce the calcium content to below normal values. Further additions of calcium aggravate the situation. In these cases, some hard corals may even die.

Tropic Marin ® ALCA-BALANCE makes it easy to reduce carbonate hardness and raise the calcium content to a natural level. Optimal values of 6° to 9° German dKH (i.e. 10° to 16° French THCa – 1.78 German dKH = 1 French THCa) and 400 to 440 mg of calcium per liter can be easily established using Tropic Marin ® ALCA- BALANCE.

Advantages :

To safely decrease carbonate hardness while increasing calcium content
Reduction of limescale deposits on appliances
Optimization of the use of limestone and calcium reactors
Improved maintenance conditions

Manual :

One measuring spoon (4 g) per 100 l of aquarium water corresponds to a decrease in the carbonate hardness of 1.5° German dKH (i.e. 2.67 French THCa) or an increase in the calcium content of 10 mg/l. The lowering of the carbonate hardness leads to the consumption of calcium.

Do not exceed a daily dose of two measuring spoons per 100 liters of aquarium water.

ALCA-BALANCE covers the calcium needs of the coral during use. An additional supply of calcium is not desirable and can promote an increase in precipitation (cloudy waters).

In aquarium water, the optimum calcium content is between 400 and 420 mg/l and the carbonate hardness must be between 6° and 9° German dKH (i.e. 10 to 16° French THCa). After obtaining these values, we recommend maintaining the calcium intake with Tropic Marin ® BIO-CALCIUM or BIO-CALCIUM Liquid Set . The carbonate hardness and the calcium content should be checked regularly using the tests .

To increase the magnesium content, a concentrated magnesium additive .
