The Fauna Marin Multi-Filter is a versatile media chamber that can be used as a bio-pellet reactor or a media reactor.

Learn more

As a media reactor, the Multi-Filter can contain different types of filtration media:

  • Fauna Marin Carb L activated carbon
  • Fauna Marin NPO Redu pellets
  • Fauna Marine Phos 0.04
  • Fauna Marine Power Phos
  • Fauna Marine Ultra Phos
  • You can also comfortably mix Carb L and PO4 carriers in the same chamber without any issues.

The Multi-Filter's space-saving design allows users to find a place in the smallest space!

Assembly and installation

Step 1 Assemble the multi-filter by connecting the supplied pump to the filter body. Make sure the pump is completely open, see the instructions for use enclosed with the pump.

Step 2 Find a suitable area in your sump and place the Multi-Filter in that area. If possible, place the filter in front of a skimmer. This will allow the middle of the reactor to reduce nutrients more effectively. The reactor should not sit in a water level higher than 9.8" - 11.8". Make sure the reactor is standing straight all the time. Otherwise, performance will be compromised.

Step 3 Remove the top middle screw and screen, then add your filter media of choice. Reposition the screen and slightly tighten the screw.

Step 4 Adjust the output rate of the pump by turning the knob on the pump itself. Make sure the filter media spins smoothly and does not flow into the reactor.

Make sure the filter media is still tumbling and there is sufficient water flow.

Interview

In order for the reactor to maintain its performance, we recommend that you carry out regular maintenance of the reactor.

Weekly maintenance

  • Clean the upper screen with a soft brush
  • Clean drain openings with a brush or soft straw pad
  • Clean the outer side walls of the reactor with a swab

Maintenance 2 weeks

  • Clean pump body

3 to 4 weeks of maintenance

  • Remove and clean the bottom screen by disassembling the reactor body.
  • Open the central screw of the PVC pipe, remove the upper screen.
  • Twist bottom screen onto center PVC pipe (threaded at base)
  • Go back up

Our recommendation

It is very important to ensure that the water overflows evenly into the outer walls of the reactor. This allows the drainage water to be re-enriched with oxygen that was previously consumed during the nutrient decomposition phase.

Use the flow adjustment knob to adjust the flow rate of the reactor and ensure the reactor runs quietly.
