They allow different species of bacteria and fungi, such as nitrifying bacteria, yeasts, phototrophic prokaryotes to grow on their large surface without decomposing them.

Nano-Tech Bio-Spheres Replacement

For optimal effectiveness, Nano-Tech Bio-Spheres/Bio-Block should be cleaned or replaced every 6 months. However, when cleaning or replacing them, DO NOT change them all at the same time. Clean or replace only half so that enough bacterial colonies remain to grow in the freshly cleaned or replaced Bio-Spheres/Bio-Block.
