Phorax
JUWEL Phorax is a highly effective filter material for breaking down phosphates in your aquarium. It effectively reduces algae growth and can help significantly improve plant growth.
Phosphates are regularly introduced into the aquarium through fish food and are hardly broken down by natural processes. However, plants only require minute amounts of phosphate for their natural growth (fresh water: 0.05 mg/l, sea water 0.01 mg/l). Excess phosphates are likely to trigger algae blooms.
Phorax is composed of a mineral rich in aluminium, which binds dissolved phosphate forming an insoluble aluminum phosphate, thus removing the phosphate from the water at the same time. JUWEL Phorax is thus very effective up to 12 mg of phosphate per gram of Phorax.
