Why use af air scrubber media?

Reef aquariums are complex and often fragile ecosystems that need stability to succeed. Daily fluctuations in carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the air due to normal breathing, pets, and cooking can all affect an aquarium's pH. The higher the concentration of CO2 drawn into the skimmer, the greater the acidification of the water, often resulting in lower pH, unstable dKH and significant inhibition of coral calcification. Over time, this can lead to coral stress and even coral loss. To grow properly, corals need a stable pH of 8.1 to 8.4.

When the light is on, photosynthesis takes place, which helps stabilize the pH of the aquarium. However, at night, the pH drops as the oxygen demand increases. This is especially true in the fall and winter, when windows are normally closed and rooms are less ventilated. This is the perfect time to start using the AF Air Scrubber Medium to support a stable reef aquarium.

AF Air Scrubber Medium helps prevent harmful parameter fluctuations caused by low water pH. The medium is a white, dry pellet. It hermetically fills the filter chamber, while allowing air to circulate. As a result, it perfectly absorbs carbon dioxide. Used and replaced regularly, it ensures a stable pH in the aquarium.

According to our tests, the AF Air Scrubber Medium can raise pH to ~0.2 0.4 degrees and is stable in the 8.0 8.4 range. We recommend using the AF Air Brush Holder with the AF Air Brush Filter. This configuration ensures the most efficient removal of CO2 from the air drawn into the skimmer. The color change media wears out gradually, making it easy to tell when the cartridge needs to be replaced. We recommend replacing it before the color changes completely. Toner cartridges are designed for single use, non-renewable and reusable. Its carbon dioxide saturation can be recognized by the color of the pellets. When the cartridge turns purple, it means it has absorbed carbon dioxide. Only original CO2 filter cartridges guarantee uninterrupted operation and maximum efficiency. For optimal and long-lasting filtration, it is recommended to use the AF Air Scrubber Media with a dedicated AF Air Scrubber filter.

Main Features :

  • Excellent CO2 absorption properties
  • Effectively raises pH
  • Promotes coral health and growth
  • Prevents pH fluctuations in saltwater aquariums.
  • Wear level indicator
  • Easy to use
  • Highest quality product, completely safe for fish and corals.

To note :

  • We recommend changing the medium when it changes color or when the pH level begins to drop.
  • One package corresponds to a complete refill of the AF Air Scrubber reactor.
  • The AF Air Scrubber Holder can be used with charcoal.
  • If the spent medium remains in the reactor too long, it may change color again, but it is no longer effective in removing CO2 from the air.
  • When replacing the stand, it is best to wear gloves and do it in a well-ventilated area.
