A sufficient concentration of magnesium and carbon dioxide is also fundamental for the healthy growth of the skeleton of coralline algae and gorgonians. The addition of a conventional magnesium salt alone is not sufficient and further leads to an imbalance in the ionic composition of the water. Tropic Marin ® BIO-MAGNESIUM provides magnesium and carbon dioxide in a biologically optimal form as a small amount of pure Tropic Marin ® sea salt. The conditions for a healthy reef biotope are thus recreated.

• Natural seawater has an average magnesium content of between 1280 and 1300 mg/l. First measure the magnesium concentration of your aquarium water with a standard commercial test (for example Tropic Marin ® MAGNESIUM-CALCIUM COMBITEST). If the magnesium concentration is lower than the natural content, it would be necessary to add BIO-MAGNESIUM and the use by the organisms would thus be balanced.
• Determine the volume of water in your tank, taking into account the decor (stones and other). Adding a measuring spoon of BIO-MAGNESIUM increases the magnesium content by around 10 mg/l per 100 litres. The maximum recommended dose per day is 2 measuring spoons per 100 liters of aquarium water!
• Fill flush with the measuring spoon provided with BIO-MAGNESIUM (spatula for exact filling provided). Properly sprinkle the contents on the surface of the water while stirring. Ensure that no larger crystals of undissolved BIO-MAGNESIUM come into direct contact with the corals. To avoid clouding the water, add the next scoop only when the previous addition has dissolved.
• You can dissolve 450 g of BIO-MAGNESIUM in 720 ml of reverse osmosis water to obtain 1 L of LIQUID BIO-MAGNESIUM.
• Use the new dosage calculator for easy determination of the necessary amount of dosage for your aquarium.
• Concentrations above 1600 mg/l of magnesium are not recommended, because different organisms could, under certain conditions, react negatively to extremely high magnesium contents. Water density may increase slightly over time. Please measure the density regularly.
• In addition to the magnesium concentration, the calcium concentration should also be taken into account. For this, Bio-Calcium is the most suitable source of calcium.
