Each kit will give you 200 tests.

1. Using the 5ml syringe, add 5ml of aquarium water to the test vial.

Caution: before using the vial test, make sure it is washed with osmosis water only and dried with soft paper.

2. Using the 1ml syringe, firmly place the plastic tip and pull the Alk-2 up until the lower end of the black rubber of the syringe sits right on the 1 mark .00 ml.

- Before this step, make sure that the plastic tip is empty of any liquid and that it is submerged in water the entire time to prevent air from entering the syringe.

- The presence of a layer of air between the liquid and the black part of the syringe is normal and will not affect the result (The normal layer of air that you should see is equal to 0.1 ml).

3. Begin adding Alk-2 to the test vial, one drop at a time, swirling a little after each drop. After 2 or 3 drops you will get a blue colored solution.

4. Keep adding Alk-2 to the test vial until the color changes: Yellow

- There will be a short stage in green color. The end result is the change of the solution from green color to yellow color. When the solution is green, you are very close to the final result - approximately (1-2 drops).

Pay attention to the fact that by adding Alk-2 more than necessary, the yellow color will become brighter.

5. Note the position of the black lower part of the syringe (each division corresponds to 0.01 ml) and obtain the alkalinity result from the table. Readings should be taken at the position of the lower end of the black rubber of the syringe.

NSW alkalinity is around 7. Our recommendation is to keep DKH levels in the tank between: 7-10.

In case of low alkalinity, use Royal sodium bicarbonate to maintain the parameters between: 7 – 10.
