How to use Proaquatest K?

Quick test: place the water to be tested in a test tube, add reagents, pour the cloudy test water into a special test tube and read the amount filled until the cross is no longer visible at the bottom . This number corresponds to K in mg/l.

Too little potassium can stunt plant growth, despite all other factors such as CO2, iron and light. Use JBL Ferropol or JBL ProScapeK Macroelements fertilizer to increase the potassium content.

On the JBL/Themes Aquarium website you will find detailed information on water analyzes and solutions to problems.

Understand :

1 Potassium test for approx. 25 measures, 2 reagents, special glass test tube, syringe, scoop and color chart. Reagent refills available separately.

Healthy pond or aquarium:

The correct water value for an aquarium / pond depends on the fish and existing vegetation. Even if the water is clear, it can be contaminated. If the parameters are incorrect, diseases and algae can develop in aquariums and ponds. In healthy ponds and aquariums under natural conditions, it is important to regularly check and adjust the water quality.

JBL offers rapid or color tests for all water analyses. These tests calculate a specific parameter or several parameters at the same time. They identify algae problems and negative parameters such as nitrates, nitrites, potassium and magnesium.

Why test?

Potassium is one of the main nutrients that plants absorb and store efficiently from fresh water within hours. Growing plants have higher potassium requirements than other factors. Despite regular fertilization of aquarium water, potassium can be reduced to a minimum and plant growth can stagnate. In tap water, potassium is generally an insufficient element compared to natural biotopes, especially in terms of calcium and magnesium concentration.

Recommended potassium levels

  • Freshwater aquarium (community): 10-30 mg/l
  • Aquarium Malawi-Tanganyika: 10-30 mg/l
  • Planted tank with few fish (aquascaping): 10-30 mg/l
  • Saltwater aquarium: the potassium content cannot be measured with this test.
