Healthy pond or aquarium and living conditions close to nature

The correct water parameters in the aquarium/pond depend on the fish population and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear, it can be polluted. If the parameters are wrong, diseases or algae can develop in the aquarium or pond. To have a healthy pond or aquarium with conditions close to the natural environment, it is important to regularly check and adapt the water parameters.

For every water analysis, JBL offers quick tests or color tests. These tests calculate a specific parameter or several parameters at the same time. They identify algae problems and negative parameters of nitrates, nitrites, potassium, magnesium, etc.

Why test?

Maintaining an appropriate O2 level at all times is important for the well-being of the occupants of the aquarium or pond, and for the growth of aquatic plants. The oxygen is
the "elixir of life" of all animals, they need it to breathe. The "invisible helpers", the bacteria that degrade toxins in the aquarium or pond, are also dependent on a sufficient oxygen content to be able to carry out their useful activity. In aquariums and ponds with little or no planting and in marine aquariums, the oxygen content must always be maintained at an adequate equilibrium level. Water absorbs oxygen through its surface. The rougher the surface, the more oxygen it absorbs. In the presence of dying algae and in the event of heavy use of drugs, the oxygen content in the water will have to be increased by aeration.
