FAQs
Why are my brine shrimp nauplii dying?
There can be different reasons for the death of nauplii and brine shrimp, from the quality or contamination of the water used, to the use of unsuitable rearing containers, to the quality and quantity of food, livestock hygiene.
We recommend the specialized book “Artemia – the crustacean of primitive times” by Oliver Drewes, published by VIVARIA publishers. The book, illustrated with numerous photos taken under a microscope and drawings, describes the seven species of Artemia identified in the current state of knowledge.
After a description of the special breeding biology, the most successful breeding systems are indicated. A comprehensive chapter “Artemia in the aquarium hobby” provides practical advice, e.g. to increase the hatching rate as well as the survival rate of nauplii and brine shrimp.
