Biopellets made of 100% pure biodegradable polymers. Very effective for the reduction of nitrates and phosphates.

The positive effects of NP-reducing BioPellets on water quality are undeniable, biopellets provide a favorable nest for bacterial development by providing an adequate carbon source for their proliferation. Water wastes, mainly nitrate and phosphate, are consumed by bacteria. This keeps the aquarium water clean. Biopellets can replace the "vodka" method

The new NP Reduction BioPellets formula is made from 100% pure biodegradable polymers that can be placed in a fluidized filter. The BioPellets will allow the aerobic growth of bacteria, which will consume nitrates and phosphates simultaneously. The bacteria will use the carbon from the BioPellets, while the nitrogen and phosphorus will be consumed from the water in the form of nitrate and (ortho) phosphate. This conversion of organic BioPellets (together with inorganic nitrogen and phosphorus) into microbial biomass is called immobilization.

On average, it takes 2 to 4 weeks for sufficient development of bacteria, and the beginning of the decline in nitrates and phosphates. The main advantage of this method over using vodka or sugar as the carbon source, is that the BioPellets stimulate local bacteria growth, in the fluidized filter, instead of all corners of the aquarium. where they can clog tubes and pipes. They also prevent the growth of cyanobacteria, the bacteria present on the BioPellets will compete with the cyanobacteria. Finally, the use of BioPellets will save a lot of time, compared to the vodka method or other NO3 and PO4 reducing products, because no daily dose is to be dispensed.

How does it work :

A dosage of 0.5 to 1 liter of pellets per 500 liters is recommended.

The BioPellets are consumed by bacteria, it will then be necessary to compensate for the loss, with new BioPellets, every 6-12 months. This can be detected, during the inspection of the filter, or during an increase in nitrates. These numbers are highly dependent on your aquarium and the diet of your residents. it is recommended to measure nitrate and phosphate levels regularly, then you can increase or decrease the doses.

BioPellets N/P Reducing are made of a higher molecular weight than most competing products, resulting in a longer use time, so refills will be less frequent.

It is recommended to place the outlet of the BioPellets filter next to the skimmer to limit the spread of bacteria in the aquarium. This has the added benefit of increasing gas exchange. Pellets should never be used without sufficient ventilation.

The BioPellets will allow a richer nourishment of the inhabitants of your aquarium. For very rich feed, it is recommended to combine BioPellets with standard phosphate binders. The reason is that most aquarium foods contain high levels of phosphates. The use of phosphate absorbent based on iron hydroxide does not present any disadvantages.

Important :

Cloudy water can occur a few days after the introduction of Biopellets when high levels of nitrates, 20ppm or more, are present in your aquarium.

How to solve this problem ?

When your nitrate level is high, it is recommended to start with 25-50% of the Biopellets dosage. After 1 week, add some biopellets to your filter. repeat until desired amount is reached.

To know :

  • Maintain sufficient water flow through the biopellets, to prevent the production of hydrogen sulfide gas.
  • Using ozone and a UV filter will affect bacterial growth and increase filter maturation time.
  • With high nitrate levels, it is highly recommended to start with 25-50% of the recommended dose. Indeed, bacterial proliferation leads to a drop in the oxygen level in the tank which could have undesirable effects on your inhabitants.
  • Where nitrates and phosphates are already very low prior to the use of Biopellets, a decrease in these levels may not be detectable with standard aquarium tests.
  • NP-reducing Biopellets are certified TOXIN-free by two independent laboratories.

dosage: 0.5 to 1 liter of pellets per 500 liters of water.
