Salifert Oxygen test notice

Warning! Keep out of reach of children.

O2-1: Causes skin irritation.

IF ON SKIN: Wash thoroughly with soap and water.

If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

Causes serious eye irritation. Wear protective gloves Jun hydroxide

IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Pour 5 ml of water into the test tube.
  • Add 5 drops of O2-1 reagent and stir gently for 20 seconds. Do not stir, as this may change the oxygen content of the water.
  • Add 5 drops of O2-2 reagent and stir gently for 15 seconds. Let stand for 3 minutes if it is seawater or 1 minute for other types of water.
  • Add 5 drops of O2-3 reagent to it. Stir for 5 seconds after each drop added. Wait 60 seconds for the color to develop.
  • Place the test tube above the color scale, on a white part, and compare the colors. An intermediate color corresponds to an intermediate oxygen concentration. The values are in mg/L (ppm) of oxygen.

Try to maintain 8 mg/L or more of oxygen in fresh water (aquarium or pond). In seawater, a concentration of at least 6 mg/L is recommended.

Some fish require higher concentrations.
